There is already so much happening this semester but before I share about new projects, musings and inspiration I want to take a moment to show my final project from Bebe Miller’s History/Theory/Literature of Choreography course. My self selected assignment was to create a solo in the choreographic style of Susan Rethorst. I studied her book A Choreographic Mind: Autobodygraphical Writings closely and also drew from a workshop I took with her last winter. I expended a great deal of effort allowing one movement to suggest the next and attempting to let the dance tell me what it needed rather than getting concerned about accessibility and audience as is my want. It was a challenging process but I am pleased with the result. It is somehow my aesthetic and not at the same time.
