Embodied Expectations

No one enters the studio empty. We bring our state of mind, our current interests, our aches and pains – and our expectations. Over the last month our our graduate seminar class we’ve had a crash course in Adobe Photoshop and this collage is the manifestation of that technical exploration. But it’s also a representation of the embodied traces of Artistic Director-ship that keep showing up in the studio with me – whether I’m inviting them or not.

The original photo I manipulated is of Alison Liney, Megan Wilson Stern and myself rehearsing for The Third Shift. Megan is now all but obscured in my arms and Alison is pictured on the right.
